Before I ever stepped into a brokerage, life handed me a series of detours that taught me resilience, humility, and what it really means to serve people well.
I got into real estate because of my mom, and it’s a decision that’s brought nothing but blessings. My mother always had an interest in real estate; she even completed the coursework, though she never practiced. Based on her experience, she believed it would be a great fit for me. She kept encouraging me to give it a try, and when I finally took the leap, it was terrifying. But I also knew that with my entrepreneurial spirit, I could make it work.
Before real estate, I spent years searching for an industry where I truly belonged. I studied a mix of art-related subjects and business in college, and I loved being involved in the campus radio and TV station. I had big dreams, but when I graduated in 2009, the recession had wiped out opportunities. There were literally no jobs. The only work I could find was cleaning pools, which led to a long stretch of odd jobs, whatever I needed to do to get by.
My break came when I landed a role as a video editor for a magazine. That opened the door to offering audio and video consulting for attorneys creating presentations. It felt like I was finally gaining traction. And then I got fired.

One of the partners sat me down and explained they were letting me go because there was “room for improvement,” basically, they weren’t satisfied with my work. Getting fired for the first time was a shock, but it turned out to be a pivotal moment. It forced me into some serious self-reflection. I had always seen work as just a job, but suddenly I understood it as a service, something people depended on and paid for. I remember thinking, I have to start taking my work more seriously.
So I did. I became more intentional, more analytical, and more honest about the impact my work was having. I started measuring outcomes and looking closely at how what I did benefitted others. That shift in attitude paid off. I landed a position as the marketing director for a camp and conference center—a retreat property tucked in a beautiful location. Living on site allowed me to save money, and that became the foundation for the next chapter: real estate.

I got my license in 2014 and immediately partnered with a strong local brokerage. As my business grew, I recognized the opportunity to partner with other like-minded agents. Together, as young, ambitious entrepreneurs, we combined our strengths to form the Home Team. Around that same time, I was introduced to Lindsey, and it turned out that I had worked alongside her mother at a previous brokerage. One thing led to another, and today we’re married with two amazing kids, Teddy and Nevie.
Life is wonderfully full, family, clients, and a business that continues to grow. When I get time to myself, I love working on house renovation projects. Building my own garage, repainting rooms, redoing parts of the house—I love fixing and creating things with my hands. I also stay active in my local REALTOR® association, volunteering on the board of directors.
Looking back, my path wasn’t straightforward. It was full of detours, setbacks, and unexpected turns. But every step pushed me toward the career where I finally felt at home. Real estate gave me purpose, community, and a way to support my family doing something I genuinely love. And it all started with my mom believing I could do it.
I bring deep, up-to-date knowledge of the entire real estate process, ensuring clients always receive accurate guidance. I answer calls, reply to emails promptly, and stay proactive so no detail is ever overlooked. As a native of this area, I know the neighborhoods exceptionally well, which helps me match clients with the communities that best fit their needs. Clients can count on me to keep transactions organized and moving forward, supported by an experienced administrator who helps manage paperwork and deadlines with precision. Efficiency is at the core of how I work.
As the #1 team in Rock Hill, our success comes from the strength of our combined experience. We learn about new listings early, collaborate on solutions, and bring multiple perspectives to every challenge. My experience allows me to answer questions clients didn’t even know to ask, anticipate potential issues, and prevent problems before they arise. I develop smart strategies based on real-time market behavior, guide clients through every step, and get them to the closing table. Above all, I get the job done, and I make the process smooth and successful.
Sincerely,

Nate Mallard
